The new
Bureau of the European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) held its first official bureau meeting last week-end in
Montbrio del Camp, Catalonia, kindly hosted by
Joventut Nacionalista de Catalunya (JNC) and
Joventut Liberal d'Andorra (JLA).
At this occasion, members of the Bureau discussed about their priorities for the next two years, approved a number of strategy papers and reviewed upcoming events, including the seminar to be held this week in Vienna, the Summerschool in Bulgaria next July, the Young Leaders Meeting end September in Lithuania and the ELDR Congress in Bucharest next October.
A new structure for the Bureau was also endorsed at this occasion, with three layers of responsibility distinguishing between organizational, political and networking aspects. At this occasion, Pietro Paganini was nominated as Political Officer, Dalia Venslovaite as Projects Officer, Julia Leferman as Public Relations and Training Officer, and Slaven Klobucar as Campaigns Officer, alongside with the election of Roger Albinyana i Saigi, Aloys Rigaut and Jeroen Benning respectively as President, Vice-President and Treasurer last month in Winterthur. The detailed distribution of responsibilities within the Bureau follows this new structure and will be published very shortly.
The new Bureau was also decided to actively contribute to the promotion of the www.oneseat.eu campaign, recently launched by ALDE MEP Cecilia Malmström, and the European Citizens’ Initiative campaign (ECI, www.citizens-initiative.eu), and to develop and run two new campaigns respectively requesting the abolition of visa requirements for the movement of Europeans within Europe and the abolition of the Common Agricultural Policy.
The adopted documents, as well as the minutes of the meeting, will be made available to members as soon as possible.<font size="2">
The next bureau meeting will be held in Brussels on 8-9 July.
