LYMECblog
Alternative Libérale is born last March 1st 2006. Our party is the only one that is promoting a classical liberal society in France opposing to existing conservative and socialist parties. We are covering not only economic reforms towards free market but also various social liberal reforms (in education, healthcare, employment, environment, individual liberty, housing, retirement…). For a long time, Classical Liberals in France have been put aside from public debates. Today, we represent a glimmer of hope for the numerous French citizens in demand of a new France. Since our creation, we have been present in local, national and international media (Herald Tribune, BBC, Telegraph, The Australian, Wall Street Journal…). We recently successfully presented our proposals on national TV France 2 to end the monopoly of French public social health insurance and comply with European law.

To overcome the crisis, France needs a third political dimension (as it is the case in Germany with FDP, in Ireland with Progressive Democrats…), beyond the supremacy of 'hyper-collectivism' praised by the left wing and arbitrary interventionism advocated by the right wing. A candidate defending each one's capacity to make one's own decisions, while ensuring protection for most vulnerable people, people smashed by sometimes tragic events. A candidate defending freedom, as well as equal rights and duties for each citizen, because our system flouts equal treatment of individuals. Initially created to serve this end, our system finally serves itself only.

Moreover, strong state-centric French politicians are a danger for the establishment of a classical liberal Europe (you probably noticed the strong opposition from French leftists to the EU Service directive). We are their only opponents that is why we want and need to work together with all classical liberal movements throughout Europe. France shall also express a classical liberal voice at European level. For that reason, Alternative Libérale has started procedure to become member of ELDR and encourages young French liberals to be part in LYMEC.

As a new breed of politicians, our leaders stem from various horizons. Alternative Libérale has announced last September 28th, the name of its candidate for presidential: Edouard Fillias, former founder of Liberté-Chérie famous for the demonstration in June 2003 in favour of minimum service in public monopoly that gathered about 80 000 people in Paris’s streets. We will be taking part in all subsequent polls: parliamentary with 150 candidates, municipal, European…

Thanks to Europe, stairways to freedom have been opened to French people in various sectors. We want a completely different society. A society based on freedom of choice, showing all French citizens we have nothing to lose by testing freedom.

Ludovic Lassauce
Secretary General
Alternative Libérale
