LYMEC news
In connection with an ELDR bureau meeting in Dublin, Roger Albinyana accompagnied ELDR president Annemie Neyts MEP on a visit to the annual convention of the Progressive Democrats in Wexford, Ireland. The conference was held prior to the Irish general elections which will likely be called by next May. The congress, entitled “The best is yet to come”, was a very good opportunity for PD’s leader Michael McDowell to present the party’s political platform for next elections and confirm his leadership in front of the 1500 delegates attending the convention.

LYMEC president Roger Albinyana addressing to the party young delegates stated 'I am delighted to see such a big turn out of young delegates attending the convention', and he added 'Ireland is one of the most liberal and successful countries in Europe. We need a strong liberal force that can continue ensuring the liberal and reformist direction of the country, not only when consolidating Ireland as one of the most economically prosperous and liberal countries in the world, but also to ensure that socially speaking Ireland will move towards a higher recognition of individual and civil liberties'. He encouraged the PD’s to win the next elections and continue supporting the current coalition government.

YPD’s chairman Abraham Campbell encouraged his members to take a more active role in LYMEC.
