LYMEC Bureau
The new LYMEC bureau gatered in Brussels last weekend for its first official meeting. At this occasion, the members of the bureau discussed their priorities and targets for the next two years.

The leading theme for the coming year 2011 will be justice between generations, where LYMEC will look at the pestering economic questions resulting out of demographic change in Europe. Reform of pension systems, state debts and political representation of young citizens in parties and parliaments will be some of the points we specifically adress.

In the year 2012 LYMEC events will focus on the theme of civil liberties. Data protection, the fight against internet censorship and data retention as well as the right to live one’s own sexuality without repercussions will only be some of the aspects we focus on.

At the beginning of the bureau meeting serveral recent political developements were discussed, as following the political discussion and contributing actively to it is the core activity of a political youth organisation like LYMEC.

Furthermore tasks and responsibilities were divided between the members of the bureau. Vedrana Gujic was appointed as political officer, Claudia Benchescu as campaigns officer, Jeroen Diepemaat as press & communications officer and Mireia Huerta as projects officer. Treasurer Matilda Flemming, With this in addition to Vice President Mette Lykke Nielsen and President Alexander Plahr the bureau now is complete in its new constitution.

To make a flying start the bureau brainstormed about a working program for the upcoming years. This program, the complete division of responsibilities and the minutes of the meeting will be made available soon for all LYMEC members on this website and is to be adopted by LYMEC members at the autumn Congress.
