Tineretul National Liberal, abbreviated as TNL, is the youth organization of the National Liberal Party of Romania (PNL), constituted in 1990.
TNL is organized and activates at the local, regional and national level, under the coordination of the correspondent PNL structure.
The organization is run by a National Board, which includes 21 elected members, for a two-year mandate, representing different local and regional branches of TNL.
What do we stand for?
TNL’s goals are to promote liberal ideas in the Romanian society, to support the political program of the National Liberal Party and to undertake activities designed to ensure a better representation of young people in the Romanian political life.
To achieve its goals, TNL carries out educational activities for its members and other youngsters in the field of democracy, liberalism, free-market economy, competition, youth policies; participates in and organizes specific liberal or youth events, develops relations with other like-minded organizations from Romania or abroad.
Aims of a national action plan on youth policy, in the view of TNL:
To promote and facilitate intercultural understanding, democracy, tolerance and active citizenship
To promote the concept of “youth policy” as an integrated and cross-sectorial element
To support and facilitate the establishment and development of youth associative life and youth organizations
To promote and increase young women’s participation in youth organizations and in the society in general.
To promote a full involvement of minorities in the society, especially in the youth sector.
International Affiliation
TNL is member of the International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) since 2001.
The next year, TNL became also full member of the European Liberal Youth (LYMEC), being thus the first youth organization of a liberal party from a non-EU country, to be admitted as member of LYMEC.
In March 2001, TNL became one of the founding members of the Initiative of South East European Liberals (ISEEL).
